Pre & Post Treatment Instructions

Post-care for cosmetic procedures is essential to ensure proper healing and optimal results. It is important to attend follow-up appointments as scheduled to monitor progress and address any concerns. Rest and proper nutrition can also contribute to the healing process. By following these guidelines, patients can promote a smooth recovery and achieve the desired outcomes from their cosmetic procedures.

BOTOX | FILLERS | INJECTABLES

Pre-Treatment Guide:

  • Avoid blood thinning medications / supplements for 3-5 days before your appointment. Check with your PCP if on any RX medications.
  • Avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinols, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acid, for 7 days prior to treatment.
  • Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or the use of hair removal cream on the area to be treated.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are allergic to any of its ingredients, or suffer from any neurological disorders.
  • Arrive at your appointment with cleansed skin.
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment and 24 hours after your treatment.
  • Review & sign your Consent and Pre & Post Treatment Forms to make sure your treatment is not affected by medication, health condition, or lifestyle changes.

Post-Treatment Guide:

  • Stay in a vertical position for four (4) hours following injection. DO NOT “rest your head” or lie down.
  • You may apply an ice or cold gel pack to the area(s) treated (AVOID putting pressure) as this helps reduce swelling and the potential for bruising. Once any pinpoint bleeding from the injection site(s) has subsided, you may begin wearing makeup.
  • AVOID placing excessive pressure on the treated area(s) for the first few days; when cleansing your face or applying makeup, be very gentle.
  • AVOID exercise or strenuous activities for the remainder of the treatment day; you may resume other normal activities/routines immediately.
  • AVOID alcohol for 24 hours after treatment
  • Use a high factor sunscreen (> SPF 30) and protect the treated area from sun. Tanning after treatment may cause hyperpigmentation.
  • Wait a minimum of two weeks before receiving any skin care or laser treatments.
  • The effects of BOTOX® can take up to two (2) weeks to show.
  • You may experience a mild amount of tenderness or a stinging sensation following injection.
  • Redness and swelling are normal. You may have some residual bruising around the treated areas. It can take about a week to subside.
  • You may experience some tenderness at the treatment sites that can last for a few hours to a few days.
  • You may take Acetaminophen/Tylenol if you experience any mild tenderness or discomfort.
  • Please call us if your symptoms appear to worsen or last longer than four weeks.
  • Following your recommended skin care treatment plan helps to maximize our results.

In Case of Emergency: 

  • Please call us if your symptoms appear to worsen or last longer than four weeks. 
  • If you experience any of these symptoms please contact our office immediately:
    • dusky or white discoloration of the injected areas, mottling or unusual bruising, severe or increasing pain, redness, increasing warmth or coolness to touch, severe swelling, itching, blisters, difficulty smiling or swallowing, fever or chills.
    • In urgent cases like these, the antidote for hyaluronic acid fillers will be used to melt the filler and unblock the blockage. It is important to act swiftly to prevent scarring. If complications arise outside of normal office hours, contact your doctor or go to the nearest emergency department.   • In the event of a life-threatening emergency, please go directly to the nearest emergency room, (by ambulance if appropriate), and advise the staff that you are our patient.

Dr. Sam is board certified in anatomic Pathology, Cytopathology and Laboratory Medicine. Dr. Sam grew up in Damascus, Syria, where he completed his Medical Degree at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Damascus. Dr. Sam moved to the United States, where he completed his residency training at the University of Cincinnati; College of Medicine.

He is known for his love of photography, music, arts and traveling. He also has a great personal interest and passion for archaeology, mythology and origins of various religions of the ancient world civilizations.
